"We went right into the mobs to control the frenzy. I went inside a mosque in Malvani and used the microphone to tame down the crazy mob. I knew I would receive flak and so when the transfer came, it was not surprising," confesses Khan. Though he quit the cadre after controlling the Naxalites in Nagpur in 1996, Khan doesn''t regret it. "One person cannot change the system, but he can win people''s trust by making them feel secure. I did that." </div> </div>
